Are you looking for a program presenter or performer for a program at your library? Then YOU will want to know about our new regional online performer database availabe at Performers and Programs
The database was created in collaboration with the Southern Adirondack Library System and the Upper Hudson
Valley Library System, as part of Families Read, a federally funded Library Services and Technology Act grant, under the direction of Becky Wright-Sedam, Youth Services Consultant, SALS.
The easy to use database is searchable by category including animals, authors, clowning, crafts, dance, history, life skills, literature, magic, media, museums, music, puppetry, science, sports, storytelling, theater, and more. Name and keyword searching are also available. Advanced searching allows the viewer to see all performers in a certain price range, by audience level, performance name and more.
You'll find performers have added (and are continuing to add) a variety of programs. Each program description details the audience level, program length, group size, previous library appearances (in case you want to check how the program went at another library), space/special requirements, travel restrictions, program fee, mileage fee, special notes about the program and contact information. In many cases, performers have provided e-mail addresses and their personal web sites.
If you know of performers who are not in this database, but should be, please send the contact informtion to your system youth consultant. They are: Sue Rokos at MVLA, Becky Wright-Sedam at SALS and Mary Fellows at UHLS. All suggestions are welcome!
The performer database serves public libraries in the ten counties of Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington. It is supported in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to The New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.
